J. M. McMullan

J. M. McMullan was elected to Barney’s town council on December 15, 1911. The Atlanta Semi-Weekly Journal reported the result four days later in “Hiers Named Mayor by Barney Voters.” Its December 16 dispatch described the election as having taken place the previous day.

The newspaper prints his name as J. M. McMullan. His full name, occupation, and family have not been established. He should not yet be identified with one of the McMullen or McMillan families recorded elsewhere in Brooks County.

The notice establishes his election but does not show how long he served or what business he conducted on the council.
